Prayer Listing

Submitted By: Carole Bredeson
Request Subject: Karen Murray Fall
Prayer Request:

Heavenly and Holy Lord, as each day you reveal to us our purpose and calling, today we lift up Karen Murray. She fell at home and fractured her neck, displacing one of her vertebra. Her husband says there is damage to the spinal cord but it’s too early to tell whether she will have permanent deficits. She is presently in ICU at St. Luke’s off Antioch, and does not have her phone with her. She will be transferred to an inpatient rehab facility around the end of this week. Lord, cover us today with your peace, strength and love as we process, pray and act on your calling for us. Help us to walk in your light as we move forward in community, in love and in prayer for Karen and her loved ones. Help us to see Your presence in this trial, and help us to grow in faith as we support Karen, her family, her doctors and all who need your touch, and help us to proclaim your glory in all we say and do. Amen.

This prayer listing will be updated as information becomes available so people can contact her and visit after she’s out of ICU.

Prayer Duration: On-going

6/8/2021 UPDATE

From Carole Bredeson: Karen is at St. Luke’s Rehab Institute on Metcalf in Overland Park, Room 2002. I believe she will be there at least 2-4 weeks before coming home. I went to see her yesterday. This is going to be a long recovery for her. She has very limited use of her left arm/hand and somewhat better, but still limited use of her right arm/hand. She’s looking a bit peaked, but is in good spirits, and is participating fully in her rehab. Yes, she can receive mail there or people can send it to her house. Her husband goes every day to see her, so he can take mail with him and has been doing so. I delivered the choir card yesterday. She also has her cell phone with her. Calling her between 9 and 3 is a bit iffy because they schedule back to back therapy sessions with only a break for lunch during daytime. But she’s definitely in her room and by her phone in early morning and after 3PM. She also has her iPad, so can receive facebook or email messages.

05.25.21 UPDATE
From Carole Bredeson: Karen is at St. Luke’s Plaza, Room N315. She’s still got neuro deficits in her left arm and hand, and the family is discussing locations across the US with excellent rehab facilities, but it will be a while before she is able to be moved from ICU to an inpatient rehab facility. We continue to keep our prayers for Karen, her family, and the medical staff.
Lord…Hear Our Prayers…

Carole Bredeson talked to Karen’s husband. She has had fusion surgery in her neck, he didn’t know which levels, but from what he described it sounds like maybe 2 levels. She’s still in ICU. He said she’s in better spirits today because her neurological deficits have improved and are now in her left hand, not the entire arm. She has family with her. I told him she has been added to the prayer list, so please let her know in addition to all her close friends thinking about her and praying for her, the entire church family is also praying. He will let me know when she is able to have calls and visitors.

Thanks be to God for her improvement!
