Each month, on the Final Friday, we celebrate music, art, and God’s gift of beauty, with a free community concert and reception. This month, join us as we lift up the work of Emma Lou Diemer, “Kansas City’s Own Indefatigable Woman Composer.” Born in 1927 in Kansas City, Emma Lou honed her skills at the Yale School of Music, the Eastman School, as a Fulbright Scholar in Brussels, and then as a Faculty member at the University of Maryland and University of California. Over the years she has written for every conceivable instrumental and vocal genre, always reflecting her vibrancy and love of life. A sampling of her music for piano, flute, voice, trumpet, choir and organ will be offered in joy.
